The Anchor Caf was crowded as usual this time of the year. Blade and a few of his old buddies were sitting at the bar laughing and joking about old times, when he caught a whiff of the most alluring fragrance. He turned his head to follow the scent as two women passed while they were being led to a table by a waiter. He looked back at his friends to see if anyone else had noticed. Everyone else seemed to be oblivious except, Donnie. Donnie. That was his way; always attentive to the things going on around him. Out of all of the guys that had been in their platoon, Donnie had been the one most in tuned with what Blade was thinking or feeling at any given time. They'd seen and been through a lot of things together; some good and some bad. Donnie raised his glass to him and Blade nodded in kind. He turned back to the way the women had gone hoping to get a better look. They looked familiar, he contemplated. But before he could make the connection, he was brought out of his reverie when he heard his name being called. Dara was born in Alabama, the "Heart of Dixie." Her faith, family and friends are what keeps her grounded. She is an avid reader, and loves to travel. Some of her travels have garnered her with a wealth of knowledge, which has helped to cultivate her romantic side.
